After the latest trips to France and Belgium, I left the bike rest a bit on the weekends, also the bad weather was arriving.

It seems that my life is going to change again so to get my mind clear and as it seem there wont be many days left to go out with the bike I went for a ride even it was very cloudy.

I rode the road I go always, those I love and I will miss so much. Roads where the only thing you see is the asphalt and trees like a tunnel: also with leafs turning brown there was beautiful mix of colours. You ride and looks like at the horizon the road ends, because you only see leafs and branches, but when you get there it is a corner and take you back again.
Seems like you going in circles, but not because on every straight the colours are different, the shapes are different, the corners are different. Mi mind didn’t know if I was enjoying more because of the bike or because of the views.

Funny thing, long story short, I stopped to make a photo and a land rover stopped behind me; a couple who runt out of petrol and thought I was having problems to. I got to the petrol station to get them enough petrol to reach there; the good action of the day.

Went to my favourite spot to make some photos to the SV and back home, there was some things to do and even though it didn’t rain, I didn’t know for how long it would be dry.

Looks like it was yesterday when i got my licence and the day alter i was buying the bike. At the beginning was only for the weekends but it ended up being the bike for everything; commuting, shopping, for fun, for routes, travelling, track days… 10.000 miles at the end
Nearly after buying it the battery was giving me trouble, I was I bit worried because it was supposed to be new but with a new one everything went right. Another small problem, and it seems its usual with all SV, is that with rain the water gets to the spark plug of the front cylinder and it stops working; after cleaning it and adding an extension for the front mudguard I haven’t had any more problems. A part from these two little problems the rest has been the usual (tyres, spark plugs, filter, oil, etc.) so I’m quite happy about it

He hecho unas cuantas modificaciones, a parte del escape que ya tenía cuando la compre he añadido unas cuantas cosillas:
-          Porta matriculas recortado
-          Intermitentes
-          Guardabarros trasero
-          Monoplaza (asiento y soporte escape)
-          Filtro
-          Remapeado de la centralita
-          Carenado completo
-          Manetas de freno y embrague
-          Cúpula oscura
-          Puños calefactables
-          Líneas de freno
-          Extensión guardabarros delantero
-          USB

I’ve done some modifications, other than the exhaust it came already with it when I bought it, I’ve added a couple of things:
-          Tailtady
-          Indicators
-          Hugger
-          Solo seat (cowl and exhaust hanger)
-          Filter
-          ECU remap
-          Lower fairing
-          Clutch and brake levers
-          Dark screen
-          Heated grips
-          Brake lines
-          Fender extension
-          USB

The only thing left I would do is the suspension, but it’s expensive and I don’t have all I need to do it, it’ll have to wait.

In general I’m quite happy with it, it doesn’t do anything exceptionally good, but it doesn’t do anything wrong so for me is more than enough. Although I test other bikes and check the second hand market quite often, I think there is more chances of buying another bike than replacing the SV .

After the failed attempt the previous week I tried again and this time the shop was open. This time we were 2 bikes and as a funny thing booking the ferries the prices were different for the same ferry depending on who was booking it

With the experience of the trip before I knew exactly the timing; we arrived to the port and before we could remove our helmets we had to get in the ferry. We parked the bikes and had breakfast.

Belgium is no good for riding a motorbike, flat and straight. We arrived at the monastery, bought the famous beer and stayed a while having a iced tea at the sunshine.
On the way back we avoided the highway and went through little villages. The villages were beautiful but the roads, except one bit, straight and boring. We arrived at the ferry and luckily we could get one earlier than the one we booked so we arrived home earlier than expected. Another great day.

I wanted to go to Belgium to by some beers from a monastery, so I got to work to plan a route and book the ferry tickets.
I don’t know how I didn’t see it when I looked the time table, but after planning everything I realized that just that week the shop what closed. What should I do? Losing the money wasn’t a big deal as the ferry tickets were quite cheap, but I was quite excited
Why don’t I go for a ride around the French coast?

That was it, I checked a bit a map to get some orientation and when the time came I went there. Without luggage, with an energy drink, a ceral bar and a banana I left home. Breakfast at the ferry and once in Calais, road.

It had a bit of every thing, enjoyed riding some bits, got bored on jams, enjoyed some views, the rain attempted to ruin it but it was just a treat. I don’t think I’ll do it again, and if I do I’d look for another area, but was a good experience

The idea was to ride for 3 hours and turn around. At the end it was 2 hours, stop for lunch, 2 hours more, another stop for a bit of tourism and back taking a bit the highway to get some time back (all with short stops to make photos and smoke)

Back to the ferry and from Dover all the way home, was late, was dark and I was tired. A good day and some notes for the week after.

So I’ve been on holidays in the city where I was born I’ll make another tribute to a previous motorbike, the first one I bought and I still have it.

I’ve written about it previously, it’s a CBR 125R; i bought it new for commuting because the public transport wasn’t good. Soon after buy it we moved the office, but by then it was something --- in my life. Other than using it for commute it was my transport when I was travelling (and going out at night too sometimes), used to put the back pack on the pillion passenger and tied it up to the indicators; some friends lived in the next city and I used to go see them quite often, this meant one hour on the road as fast as the motorbike could (which was around the speed limit of the high way). It never gave me any problem (that’s why the previous one to the SV was also the same model).

Honda came up with a new model I liked more, so after a bit of research I find out that the parts were exchangeable. I got to the task of finding those parts and after got them and before put them on my life changed drastically. I had to get moved quickly and it was going out of the country only for 6 months, and it’s now 5 and a half years, I decided not to sell the bike so I took it with all my stuff to my parent’s house.

I kept the insurance at the beginning so when i went on holidays i Could use it and I put the parts without painting them. When I started to think about buying another CBR written off I thought about using the spare parts I had so I could save money and headaches. I put the parts apart and sent them by post; I haven’t used it anymore so it was in the garage half taken apart.

Even with the good weather we had I haven’t nearly go out with the bike, well, to be honest I’ve been out and a lot, but nothing special or a particular place; basically I’ve been out close where i live for 40-50 minutes without stopping for photos/smoking. Also I’ve left the blog a side a bit, writing in one computer, post with other and the photos on the phone doesn’t help either.

The day before of going on holidays I wanted to go for a ride of those after work, but when was the moment of going home I wasn’t quite satisfied, I was going to spend 11 days without riding the SV so I had to leave with good memories. I made the route I normally do, then I went to Box Hill as it had been a while since last time, from there to Dorking to start going back. Funny thing, I ‘missed’ the exit and ended up heading south on the A24 up to near Washington to ride on the road we discovered the Triumph day. From there I kept going south up to Shoreham to see the sea and the old fort, then Brighton to take the motorway home. After all 110 miles and 3 and a half hours of fun.

I missed the Suzuki Day the day it was closest to home, so a Saturday morning looking where to go for a ride I thought about where they were doing it that weekend. Chichester, I knew the way from when I went to Goodwood and I wanted to explore around there because I rode on a very interesting roads.

The route up to there was good fun, not much traffic, sunny day, twisty roads: couldn’t ask for anything else. I arrived there without problems and although I didn’t explore the nearby, I thought on doing it with the test bike.

The bike was a GSX-R 1000 and the test wasn’t what I’m used to. We were a group of 5 bikes, 3 testing (Hayabusa, Burgman 400 and I) and 2 ‘monitors’; on one hand you don’t have the freedom to go wherever you want and however you want, but on the other we did a route of about 50 minutes that if I went on my own I could have ended up on non asphalted roads as it happened with the Triumphs.

About the bike, really really uncomfortable, it wasn’t as hot as the Daytona or the RSV, on corners it gave me the impression that it wanted to turn more than me, and about power, what can I say, brilliant but the fun bit is at high revs, so on first gear at high revs you could be over all speed limits.

Not long alter my first track day i booked the next one; as i already know it and is the closest to home, I went to Lydden Hill again.
I left home early, after a long time being sunny and hot that day was cloudy; at least it wasn't very hot.
I got lost looking for a petrol station and when I arrived the briefing was starting. After signing up I had breakfast while the first group was out, while the second I got the bike ready and it was time for the third group, mine.

First session, 2 laps to warm up and when I’m starting to think about pushing a bit a guy who just overtook me in the previous corner crashes… Not the best thing for my confidence. Actually the day was full of crashes, nearly one per session; in fact at some point they stopped everything because 2 guys need to go to the hospital (broken collarbone, hope they’re well) so there wasn't any ambulance left at the track.

Step by step I got confidence and was going faster, much faster than the previous time; also much more tired. The day went by and it didn't rain at the end, it was very funny and a please knowing fellow SV owners whom I spend the day. Can’t wait to do it again…

On Wednesday I received a text, Triumph demo day… So we’d have to test some models.
We left early in the morning in a lovely day, we had 50 minutes prior to arrive, the warm up. There was lot of people and after a while we got the keys to test the first bikes, a Daytona 676 and a Speed Triple. We left without much idea of where to go, luckily we found a fun curvy road, later on we weren’t so lucky and got to a really bad road.

Once we returned the bikes and alter buying myself some summer gloves, was the time for the second test, a Tiger 800 and a Street Triple. We did again the same road as the first test and then tried another one that wasn’t bad either.

The bikes? I loved the Daytona, if I could have it as second bike, no doubt I’d do it although I’d need new wrists… Accelerates really good, it revs up lovely; it brakes wonderfully, takes corners like on rails, its hot but nothing like the RSV (the other Sports bike I’ve tested). Seriously, of every bike I’ve tried until now is the only one I really want.
The Tiger was very comfortable, you can go fast with it but it doesn’t ask for it; brakes and accelerates good, but testing it right after the Daytona it doesn’t seem to do so… Even though it looks quite big it was really easy to get to the ground with my foot and didn’t feel heavy.

After lunch and a bit of tourism in Worthing, was time to go back home.

Goodwood Moving Motor Show

Again I knew about this event thanks to the kind people of the SV org. Telegraph was giving away free tickets so before they run out I ordered two.
It wasn’t far from home and there was the chance of going on secondary road those I like so much. I left early in the morning and even I got a bit lost I was there at 8.
I went straight to see the bikes and there wasn’t much. After walk around and see some cars I went back to see properly what was going on.

The most special of all was a couple of motorbikes with jet engine with around 400 bhp and the new KTM. I also recorded some videos to hear how they sound.

There were lots and lots of cars and i made around 300 photos. I spent the day waking and even though I didn’t planned it properly (should have booked experiences at arrival) it was great time. On the way back home I got lost again, but this time on purpose…

I’ve assumed that if I go for a ride with the motorbike I shouldn’t Schedule times or plan a route, at the end I’m not going to follow any of it…
Starting from that, after watching the races on tv and my route partner told me he wasn’t coming, I got ready and left.
I hadn’t ride for 10 minutes when I thought ‘let’s turn this way I’ve never been there’, this took me to roads I didn’t know and when they ended in a main or busier road I left them on the next crossing.

I enjoyed it a lot, saw lots of good spots for photos, but I wanted to keep enjoying and stopping to make a photo seem worthless. After a bit more than an hour I ended near a castle, it looked as a good idea to go for a walk, with such a sunny day, have an ice cream and smoke a cigarette. Once there I looked the phone because I thought I put an app that records where you’ve been, speeds and more; I set up everything right but didn’t press the start button, so I’m afraid I’ll have to try to re-do the route…

After this i decided to go home, sort of… Trying to go north but taking crossings at random. I went through road I went when I was with the Bike Safe training with the police, good roads with nice corners on the way home. Finally I arrived home and left the bike on the drive way just in case I’d use it later, after dinner when down to put the cover on and had a little surprise.

Plans come and go, and that weekend’s was gone, so thinking on a cheap alternative I got a couple of ideas, a couple of hours later it was ready.
The day started early with the test of a Yamaha FZ8, the bike is quite easy to handle and quite quick, but the engine is too smooth, well you can’t get many conclusions after half an hour with traffic jam included…

Pop over home to grab the bag and hit the road again, alter 20 minutes getting away of the main road i reached my next destination, Brooklands Museum.
If you like planes, you’ll like it. It’s a shame they have just a few planes and most of them are half way through restoration, but it’s also nice to see them taken apart where you can see nearly everything. The Concord experience it is not a big deal, but well for me at least it was quite nice to just take a seat as I won’t be able to flight on it. There is some old cars/bikes, but a couple of F1 (Jordan from 1997, and Marlboro McLaren with Honda engine which Senna used to win) and a 2007 Hamilton’s McLaren Mercedes where you can jump in and have a go on the Brooklands race circuit simulator (first UK purpose racing track ever)

After this, and without moving the bike because it was very good at the shadow of a tree, it was time for the Mercedes World. Wouldn’t recommend going if you are not doing a driving experience. But the good thing is that you can go to the Brooklands Museum and once you’re done, pop over just to take a look. It is basically a dealership, huge but just a dealership. They have all Mercedes son sale now and a collection of the series E (I think) of all the time. They also have 4 F1 cars and another one taken apart.

And to end the day i went to the swimming pool, later home getting away of the main roads again with a nice ride of 40 minutes and finally a couple of beers (after parking the bike and putting the cover on it) on the sun.
