Pequeño homenaje

Bueno, quiero dedicar una entrada a la moto que tuve antes de la SV, una CBR 125 R. En la ciudad en la que vivía antes tenía una como esta; la compre nueva y aún la mantengo en el garaje de mis padres. Llegado un punto en el que estaba harto del transporte público empecé a pensar en hacerme con una motillo para ir a trabajar.

La falta de dinero era básicamente el único problema así que hablando con un buen amigo, que se presto a ayudarme en esta historia, surgió la idea de comprar una siniestrada y traer algunas piezas que tenía de repuesto de la anterior que tuve (y la equipación).

Mirando el mercado encontramos una con buena pinta y que podía cumplir los requisitos. El precio estaba por encima de mi presupuesto, pero con una pequeña negociación llegamos a un acuerdo.

Well, I’d like to dedicate one entry to the motorbike i had before the SV, a CBR 125 R. In the city I used to live I had one of those; I bought it new and I still keep it at my parent’s garage. Up to a point where I was fed up of the public transport I started to think about getting a little motorbike for commute.

The lack of funds was the main problem so talking with a good friend, who offered himself to help me with this story, we got the idea of buying a written off and bring some spare parts from the previous one I had (and the gear)

Looking at the market we found one that looked good and could cope with the requirements. The price was above my budget, but with some negotiation we came to an arrangement.

Después de todo el trabajo estaba lista, así que tras pasar la ITV empecé a usarla diariamente. El primer fin de semana me fui a Silverstone con ella a BSB, menuda aventura… Yo creo que era el único con la L en todo el aparcamiento, la cosa es que había estado 3 horas por carreteras secundarias para llegar. De vuelta el cuenta kilómetros dejó de funcionar, como consecuencia me cayó una multa por exceso de velocidad…

A partir de ahí se convirtió en algo imprescindible, iba a todos lados con ella, si tomaba una cerveza la dejaba dónde estuviese y al día siguiente la iba a buscar. No dio demasiados problemas teniendo en cuenta el estado cuando la compré hasta que un día rompió. La grúa la llevo a casa de mi amigo y sopesando las posibilidades empezamos a desmontar, era la caja de cambios. No fue fácil, no fue rápido, pero conseguimos cambiar el eje principal (después de la experiencia ambos decidimos que no volveríamos a hacer nada parecido).

After all the work it was ready, so after the MOT I started to use it on a daily basis. The first weekend I went to Silverstone with it to see the BSB, what an adventure… I think I was the only one with L plates in the whole parking, the thing is I was 3 hours on secondary roads to get there. On the return the speedo wire stopped working, as a consequence I got fined for speeding…

From that point it became something indispensable, I used to go everywhere with it, if I drank I’d leave it wherever it was parked and the next day I’d pick it up. I didn’t give me too much troubles baring in mind how it was when I bought it until the day it brake down. The tow took it to my friend’s house and after thinking what it could be we started dismantle it, it was the gear box. It wasn’t  easy, it wasn’t quick, but we got to change the main shaft (after this experience we both decided we’d never do anything similar again)

6 meses después compré la SV. Al principio quise mantener las dos, pero llegó un día en que realmente no quería usar la CBR 125, cualquier excusa era buena para utilizar la SV así que decidí deshacerme de ella. No diré que la hecho de menos, la SV se ha encargado de ocupar su lugar, pero si guardaré un buen recuerdo de ella

6 months after, I bought the SV. At the beginning I wanted to keep both, but it reached a point where I didn’t really want to use the CBR 125, any excuse was good to use the SV so I decided to get rid of it. I won’t say I miss it, the SV took its place, but I will keep good memories of it
