Moto GP

As usual at this point of the year i went to Barcelona with the excuse of watching the races, even thought some times I don’t even go to the track.
I didn’t arrive on time for the training sessions and I was to tired to go to the qualify. The day of the day arrived, after waking up quite early and a small trip on motorbike (I arrived on a lovely YBR 125) we got to the track. This year we were on a stand, is not the same feeling as the pelouse (where we go other years) but you don’t have to spend the day under the sun, and that Sunday was hitting hard, and we were lucky to have a huge screen in front of us

Moto 3 race was the most exciting, 6 groups fighting for the first position overtaking each other all the time. Moto 2 had much less overtaking compared to what we are used to, but even over that it was very exciting, Pol and Tito were very close all the race with some overtaking between them. The third position was for Scott, the only non Spanish on the podium during the whole day. Moto GP was as usual, first lap interesting and the rest or the race watching who is going to fall; after Jorge’s great race the only one who spiced the race a bit was Marc pursuing Dani.

Was time to go back home after some hours under the sun, I hope the next year I can go riding as seeing so many made me miss the SV.

I always liked the off-road, not enough to do some training or buying a motorbike, and even though I never tried, it was something I wanted to do.
Thanks to the SV org I read about an off-road taste event hosted by the main brands (Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki y KTM)
The dates were a bit tight as it was the weekend I was going on holidays, and the vacancies very limited, luckily I could book for the day before my flight. I had to take a day off, it was a 2 hours and a half riding to get there plus the 3 hours of the event

I got there with no problem guided by the gps, I was in the Kawasaki group which gave us all the gear and a small briefing about positioning on the bike. General briefing for everyone and ready to ride!!!
We started in a small track to get to know the bikes. At the beginning I was scared because the lack of grip because it is really different to what I’m used to on the road; once you get to know the bike and the surface it is great, very funny and exciting. After a few laps we went to the real track; we did 3 sessions of 3-4 laps and at the end of the last one it started to rain, we did one more with the track wet before stopping because of the rain and if at the beginning I thought it was slippery over wet track was much worse (grip, not fun)

The bad side, if you can say so, is that now I want to do it again.
It is much more tired than road track, also it was a long journey home so as I wasn’t on a hurry I made a few stops.

To end, I’d like to thank the guys of AMCA and MORE for this; also the Kawasaki team I spent the afternoon with.

That’s not me, but that was the track we were riding on.

After cancelling a planned trip for various reasons, and after I booked something (I’ll explain in another entry when I’ve done it) another idea came to my mind, track day! I needed leather trousers and find a track where I could go on weekend. There was no rush so I took my time; the trousers weren’t difficult to find (but expensive) and looking for a track I was surprised, in 2 weeks and one hour on motorbike from home so it was time to get ready…

The day arrived and with the panniers full of tools and snacks we headed to Lydden Hill track; the worst was we had to wake up early… We arrived without any problems except to check a couple of times that we were on the right way. Briefing, experts, intermediate and was my turn to go out with the novice.

The day went by with the 8 sessions of 15 minutes, half day through we went for petrol and even though we got a bit lost it was really fun. I didn’t go out on the last session, I was really tired and still had to ride back home. I have planned to go back really really soon, it was great fun and an incredible experience

Finally on Saturday morning my leather trousers arrived, but it was cloudy and barely had time so I couldn’t try them. Sunday was supposed to be a rest day, was watching Moto GP and when it finished, had lunch and started watching a film. Was a nice day and I had to try the trousers looking forward the weekend after…
‘Half an hour to see how I feel with the trousers and back’ I activated the GPS to know where I was going and I planned the way I was going to do; first roundabout and I took the exit without thinking, next one the same, this is becoming a habit. I decide to look for the park I saw when I was with the Triumph. A bit of tourism while I make call and smoke a cigarette.

At that point I knew it was better not to think where i was going or what to see because probably I’d change my mind and I’d decide on the way. It was like that, saw and exit with a sign I liked and took it. After a while another stop to make a couple of photographs and was time to go home.
I was arriving to the crossing that would take me home and on the opposite direction there was a town I’ve heard of and I wanted to see at least. Finally I arrived, without knowing how, to where I did the photos. Now it was time to go home.
