MCN London Motorcycle Show

The title says almost everything, but that it was around 325 miles from where I was with the SV
The whole morning was raining while I worked, I went home for lunch and while I got ready the sun came out. During all the way some showers and lot of wind; nothing important.
The day before the show I had some things to do and also wanted to clean the bike; it was raining the whole day, so I discarded it. That night we went for some live music and I had some pints, not the best idea for what was coming the day after.
With a hangover we went to the eXcel; more or less the same as the year before, only the two new BMW and sport 125 KTM. Too many people, stands of every brand (except Aprilia and Suzuki), interview of McGuiness and Dunlop, shops, etc…
We looked the bikes we were ‘interested’ in and back

I had planned the return at midday and as the day was brilliant I cleaned the bike. The way back was quite similar to the one two days before as the last bit was also in the dark; but with the advantage that I already knew the way.

I planned that weekend without trains or planes, I was going to go with the bike to visit Lille and a couple of castles in Belgium; when I left the office on Friday after work it was raining and after the last weekend, I didn’t fancy travelling with the bike while it was raining. Saturday started as Friday ended but step by step the day came clearer and after lunch the sun was shining so I looked a map on the phone and decided where I was going.

The famous Versailles Palace, I looked how to get there but went without map or gps. I had nothing else to do so if I got lost there wasn’t any problem. The route up there wasn’t the best (highway-city) and once walking in the gardens I thought that it was getting dark and it wasn’t a good idea to ride by night. Going back I dared to visit some emblematic places of the city, although riding in the city is a bit madness.

Sunday started completely cloud free, i had to take advantage of that. After looking the site www.bestbikingroads.com I decided to do a small proposed route near Cergy. This time I went with gps, the idea was to arrive where the route started; so the way there wasn’t important. When I arrived where the nice bit of road started I looked for a place to stop and put the camera on (by the way it didn’t have battery) I found a really nice place .
After walking around and make some photos I went home; the road was good and there were some very interesting corners. Once at home I found out where I had been: www.axe-majeur.net

New year starts, with lots of expectations, lots of plans, lot of illusion and lots of changes. Since the year started I haven’t been able to use the bike much, I don’t use it for commute anymore and on weekends my free time is not much

Bike related I didn’t have a good start of the year, the first weekend I could the bike didn’t start and for different reasons (a car didn’t start either, motorbike without insurance) I couldn’t get help to start it. The second weekend even with the breakdown van (after ruin the battery of another bike) we couldn’t start it either so we had to take the bike in the van so other than the mot they could look what’s going on, once back on the road I pushed the button and voilà, it started; I and the people I was with were en shock, ‘she’s fucking with me’ I thought.
The third weekend when I went to start it and after removing the cover I forgot to remove the disc lock, as a consequence we hit the floor so unluckily that the crash bung ended up on top of my feet (I won’t post a photo as it not very nice, but I had a huge brush)

Finally the forth weekend, time to do the first trip of the year, London – Paris. With a bit of luck will do this a couple of times this year.
Before talking about the trip I’m going to do a small comparison after an ‘argument’ inside the Bird Komando (I’ll explain what is this in future posts)  about what’s better the train or the ferry to cross the channel:

The train: as an advantage there are more by the hour and takes 1/3 of the time the ferry takes. On the other hand, is double the price and you stay with the bike, no seats no bars, nothing.
The ferry: completely opposite to the train, as an advantage is much cheaper, you can seat (or lie in!), there is a bar and us, smokers, can go outside to smoke, also the view near the English coast is quite nice. As bad side the trip and boarding is longer and those are every 3 hours.

To highlight about the trip… nothing, the only thing I could do is swearing so better no to do so, highway all the way stopping as little as I could to get home the earliest possible; it didn’t stop raining heavily all the way. Horrible… Well, there is something; I rode a bike inside a train like in the movies, well, kind of…

I have left this a part, and maybe if it weren't for a recent trip I wouldn't have looked at it again, but I wanted to writte about it and once with the hands dirty I'll update everything I had.

To end the year (and thanks again to the SV org) I heard about this event at the famous Goodwood. I already knew the way to get there and I love it.
St Wilfrid’s Hospice, in Chichester, organised this event; it was about going around the track a couple of laps and the famous Hillclimb with the bikes (and riders) dressed like Santa. This is the website of the event: http://www.santa.stwh.co.uk/santas-on-motorbikes
There is nothing else I could add, great atmosphere, bikes really well decorated, very nice people, no doubt I’ll go again next year if I can.
